【Self-Introduction/Isao Sakai】Let’s visit outside of Tokyo

 Hello! My name is Isao, one of fifteen Oyama area guides. 

Originally, I am environmental consultant having engaged in various projects on environmental and forest conservation. Besides in Japan, I have worked in Malawi, South Africa and Burkina Faso in Africa, Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia and Mongolia in Asia, Panama, Brazil and Chili in Latin America, and Latvia in Europe.

Later, I started working also as tourist guide. Therefore I have two occupations now. As certified tourist guide (Spanish and English), I have visited various popular tourist spots in Japan with my guests, such as Hiroshima, Kyoto, Nara, Takayama, Hakone, Nikko, and etc.

Japan is one of the developed countries as you know. However, local communities have been declining behind of the prosperity of the nation. Many young people leave their home town for seeking job opportunity or receiving higher education. On the other hand, many problems are left there such as depopulation, disappearance of traditional culture, abandoned farmland, planted forest without care, etc. I concern about these social and natural issues occurred in the provinces. 

That is one of the motivations for which I have started running a website named Tourips Japan that stands for “Tourists in the provinces of Japan”.

This private and non-profitable - at least until now it’s true because the site has not  carried any pay advertisement yet - website introduces you to the tourist attractions of natural beauty and cultural charm in the provinces of Japan. It is a perverse website that any tourist information on four famous cities i.e. Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto and Nagoya Cities is not presented in it. He he….
